Automated employee ID photo collection became the latest step in a nearly 20-year K&A partnership spanning secure credentials, access readers, and document printing.
Zebra Technologies needed a more efficient way to modernize credentialing across a global workforce without forcing every facility or employee through the same process at once.
K&A has supported Zebra Technologies since 2007, with a relationship that has grown from supplying ID cards and accessories into an ongoing role supporting its credential technology. When Zebra began moving away from vulnerable prox credentials in 2024, K&A helped spearhead the effort. They implemented a dual-technology HID® SEOS Prox credential strategy that could support both legacy and upgraded facilities. This dual technology allowed Zebra to replace its roughly 1,600 access readers over time, eliminating the support of vulnerable proximity technology.
That modernization also exposed another inefficient part of issuing an ID: collecting the employee photo. In-person photos required people, equipment, and travel, while emailed submissions left administrators reviewing requirements, rejecting poor images, cropping files, renaming them, and uploading them manually. For a global workforce, Zebra needed a simpler ID photo collection process that didn’t put all of that work on employees and administrators.
“We may have started out as their ‘ID guys’, but we earned our place as a trusted technology partner. Our evolution has been fueled by a relentless commitment to delivering best-in-class, secure solutions — and by the trust our clients place in us to get it right.”

Automated Solution
Photo Capture
Securely gather employee
self-submitted photos with
AI-assisted compliance approval.
In January 2026, K&A brought RemotePhoto by CloudCard into Zebra’s credentialing program, providing Zebra’s workforce with a secure process to submit their photos from wherever they are located. Instead of relying on appointments or emailed images, RemotePhoto lets users follow Zebra’s brand submission process at their convenience while AI checks each photo against Zebra-defined requirements. Images can be auto-approved, auto-denied, flagged for review, or routed to an administrator when human review is needed.
RemotePhoto plugs into Zebra’s current credentialing ecosystem, with approved photos flowing into Lenel OnGuard through an integrated technology bridge. As Zebra completes its Workday Human Resources deployment, new-hire records will trigger the corporate-branded RemotePhoto invitation automatically — connecting employee onboarding, photo collection, access control, and ID badge production while eliminating manual processes. K&A managed the RemotePhoto deployment alongside Zebra and CloudCard, extending the same high-level credentialing support it has provided Zebra for nearly two decades.
Trusted Partnership
Since 2007, K&A’s role has grown from supplying ID products to supporting the technologies behind Zebra’s evolving credential program.
Access Readers
Zebra can progressively replace legacy readers with secure HID Signo technology as facilities, budgets, and infrastructure are ready for upgrades.
Migration Cards
Dual-technology SEOS Prox credentials maintain consistent employee access across legacy and upgraded facilities throughout the phased migration.
Photos Approved to Date
RemotePhoto has already processed in excess of 1,000 employee photos, reducing the manual work behind collecting and preparing images for badge production.
Technology is only part of the solution. K&A combines credential expertise, cloud-based issuance, and ongoing support to help organizations create secure, reliable badge programs that are easy to manage and built to grow.
